HOLY NAME SOCIETY |
|
The Holy Name Society attempts to address the spirituality of the men in St. Francis Parish. The society has been around since the 1940s and over the years, some of the more social values have changed. We no longer have Little League or Bowling Leagues or even Big Dance socials, as in the 40s and the 50s. But we try to meet socially, have our moderator give a talk on some aspect of religion for the Catholic man, and try to help out with parish activities, such as bingo and festivals.
We encourage our members to spend some time in our church on
Thursdays, when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed. Our membership is aging! We just lost two of our dearest members, who had been around since the 1940s. So we need some new blood who might also help us redefine our mission and bring us up to date to face the challenges of today's society and today's Catholic.
